Latest Books Out

2019 is nearly out and as the year speeds towards conclusion, I realise that several new titles I  have contributed to are out as well:

peru

Lonely Planet Peru (10th Edition) – June 2019

I have a special feeling for this particular book, mainly because I’ve worked on the last four editions of it and seen Peru change so much in ten years. The new edition sees some of the background information as well as the Central Highlands and Amazon Basin chapters written by me: the result of seven weeks travelling over mountain and under rainforest canopy in one of my very favourite countries.

Ultimate UK Travel List – August 2019

Lonely Planet staff from editors to writers got together to list their very favourite places to go in the United Kingdom and here, from 500 to 1, are the results! In this fascinating run-down of some of the most interesting places to go in the UK, I contributed the Wales and Midlands/the Marches entries.

uniquestate

Unique States of America – September 2019

This book profiles every state of the USA in way more depth and colour than any other reference book out there, giving you not just the low-down on each state’s cultural nuances but also providing up-to-the-minute recommendations on what to see and where to eat and drink, meaning this will get you up close and personal to every one of the USA’s defining regions. I had fun writing the Texas chapter for this one.

boatjour

Amazing Boat Journeys – October 2019

This inspirational title was one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on of late: a look at the planet’s very greatest journeys by water – be that beleaguered ferry, fancy cruise, Amazon rainforest speedboat or rural Wales narrowboat. The journeys we make by water are not always the most practical, but carry with them a greater weight of adventure than those by land or air usually can. I contributed entries for this on England, Wales, Scotland, Central Europe and Peru.

Lonely Planet South America on a Shoestring – October 2019

I contributed once again to this, the latest edition of one of the classic travel bibles. I was covering Ecuador for this one.
