Writing short stories as a child was how I first got into writing, and I am a four-time winner of the Bridport Prize in the short story category.
The genre remains hugely important to me: as training grounds for ideas that may, with time, explode into longer pieces of fiction, but also as intense, condensed entities in their own right that communicate something powerful in a brief but brilliant spark.
