I like to think with this piece that I single-handedly gave the UK a little proper summer to revel in! This idea was conceived during the gloomy rain-dominated British August, to offer some light at the end of the dreariness to would-be travellers by pointing them in the direction of some of those places that – despite being in Great Britain and Northern Ireland – nevertheless had their own balmy microclimates of significantly lovelier weather. This remains a fascinating new light to shine on UK travel and brings a whole new series of destinations into the spotlight. But hey – low and behold – the day it comes out, the dazzling sunny weather returns…
